Antique large pottery commemorative transfer jug. “THE BRITISH VOLUNTEERS”

Description: Good original condition large pottery water jug. The jug with black transfer to both sides. The banner reads “THE BRITISH VOLUNTEERS” on two different scenes. 1. three soldiers by a cannon on a rampart. 2. Three officers with a platoon parading behind. This jug is unmarked. I haven’t seen this transfer before but I think it’s age is Crimean so 1850-60. Jug is thickly potted and quite heavy 1kg. Just a black 5printed to base. Maker could be Lockhart & Arthur Pollockshaws Scotland.
Dimensions: Height 20.5cm. Diam base 15cm Diam top 11.5cm. Max Width to handle 19cm.
